We recently spent 5 days in Aspen / Snowmass and wanted to share some of the delights of this fabulous ski resort with you:
We stayed in the Sky Hotel, Aspen's hottest apres ski scene. Sky Hotel is known for its legendary nightlife & celebrity watching. The 39 degrees bar & lounge were certainly buzzing and the cocktails superb, but the rooms surprisingly quiet. Sky Hotel Aspen is ski in", you can virtually ski into the pool(!) and a very short walk out to the gondola. With its whimsical giant lobby chairs & light shade you feel a bit like you're Alice in Wonderland when sampling the "altitude adjustment" nightly apres ski. The stylish rooms have faux fur throws and you'll see guests parading around in the leopard & zebra print bathrobes!
We managed to squeeze in some skiing between property tours... Aspen / Snowmass has had around 300 cm of snow since Oct 1, conditions are amazing and there's a huge amount of terrain for all ability levels. Highlands bowl opened during our visit and is an unbelievably experience for advanced / expert skiers. We even found some fun black runs off the Tiehack lift at Buttermilk, traditionally a more gentle ski area for beginners, so ideal for families with some beginners & some more advanced skiers.
We visited Crestwood in Snowmass, great ski in ski out location just above Snowmass base village where the ski school is for adult & kids. This Crestwood property is perfect for families who can ski to the base village or take the very short walk to lessons if you’re complete beginners. Having an apartment with your own living space means families can spread out or you can put the kids to bed and enjoy some adult time just like at home. A full kitchen helps with a quick breakfast and getting everyone ready for skiing and with those snacks for tired kiddos after a day on the slopes. Grocery delivery is available!
Aspen sleigh ride to Pine Creek Cookhouse - From the historic ghost town of Ashcroft just outside Aspen we took a magical moonlit sleigh ride to the Pine Creek Cookhouse for dinner. Alternatively guests can choose to Snowshoe or cross-country ski to lunch or dinner. We also partook in apres ski at the famous Ajax Tavern at the base of the gondola in the Little Nell - oysters, crab legs, fondue & champagne, not a bad start to the evening! For late night entertainment we headed to "Belly Up" - THE place for live music with over 300 concerts each year.
We live in the USA, know the ski resorts & accommodation and visit them regularly.
We can give you expert advice and save you time & effort finding the right USA ski holiday for you.
