New lift opens in Winter Park, Colorado, USA

The new “Eagle Wind” chairlift opened last week in Winter Park, Colorado, USA. The new triple chair is designed so skiers and riders can better access the steep and deep terrain of the backside of Parsenn Bowl. Part of $4.8 million in capital improvements, the Eagle Wind chairlift and seven newly gladed trails bring Winter Park Resort's trail count to 143.

"The capital invested in Winter Park Resort will create an unparalleled skiing and riding experience," said Gary DeFrange, Vice President/General Manager for Winter Park Resort. "The new chairlift is a dream come true for anyone who loves to ski Vasquez Cirque and the tree-glading done around the backside of Parsenn Bowl will make a world of difference on our many powder days."

The new chairlift, named Eagle Wind with help from the Northern Arapahoe Tribe, starts at an elevation of 10,316 feet along the Vasquez Cirque egress and extends up the backside of Parsenn Bowl to 11,486 feet. Its key location not only grants skiers and riders instant access to some of Winter Park's steepest and deepest terrain but significantly shortens the amount of time it will take guests to get back from the backside of Parsenn Bowl and Vasquez Cirque – Winter Park Resort's in bounds off-piste terrain.

“This new chairlift is fantastic for visitors to Winter Park” says Helen Brown who owns and operates Chalet Bluebell, the only independent luxury chalet in Winter Park. “The locals used to know how to get to this area and ski all the powder. With the new lift this wonderful area of the mountain is truly open to everyone.”

Winter Park has had over 10 ft of snow already this year and conditions are excellent. Chalet Bluebell is offering FREE lift passes in January and 10% off Feb and March stays, with Ski Club of Great Britain members receiving an extra 10% off.
