DEMAND FOR US CATERED CHALETS GOING UP AND UP!

Catered chalets, which Brits know and love, are still few and far between in the USA, but Cambridge couple Helen Gienke and Rob Brown are taking advantage of this gap in the market and bringing more and more UK skiers to their US catered ski chalets. The couple own Chalets USA (www.chalets-usa.co.uk) one of the handful of companies who operate catered chalets in Colorado, USA.

Market research shows that 37% of UK skiers stay in catered chalets, more than any other type of accommodation. (Ski Club of Great Britain snowsports analysis).

Catered chalets are hassle free – everything is done for you. Meals are prepared by a chef, so guests don't have to worry about buying food or having to cook dinner after a hectic day on the slopes, nor do they have to argue about which restaurant to go to with their group! Plus lift passes and ski school vouchers are ready for our guests when they arrive and ski rental equipment is fitted in the chalet, so guests don't have to hang around in local shops.

Helen and Rob have found demand for their US catered chalets increasing so rapidly they've opened a new catered chalet this year. “We've had so many enquiries for catered chalets in Colorado and hate having to turn people away, so we decided to open a third catered chalet - Chalet Bluebell 3 in time for the 2007/8 ski season.” says Helen.

Chalet Bluebell 3 is located in the heart of Winter Park, Colorado, USA alongside their other 2 catered (Chalet Bluebell and Bluebell 2) and one self-catered chalet (Chalet Bluebird). Winter Park Resort has the highest average snowfall of all the major Colorado resorts and the most consistent snow year after year. The resort opened on Nov 14 for the 2007/8 season. Chalet Bluebell 3, which will open 1st December 2007, sleeps 6-8 people in 3 en-suite bedrooms, with the superior bedroom giving access to private hot tub and sundeck.

“Luckily we were able to find a chalet just in time to open for this ski season.” says Helen. “We wanted to make sure the accommodation was truly luxury, in a perfect location in the centre of town and with fantastic facilities – hot tub, wifi, balcony, fireplace, boot heaters etc.”
