This December’s storm has been one of the top 6 in Colorado’s history with nearly an inch of snow falling per hour December 20 into December 21st. Major roads and Denver’s international airport were shutdown due to the weather, a rare occurence in this state very used to a large amount of snow, but due to re-open on Friday.

Winter Park has gained a world-class reputation for its skiing, consists of 5 inter-linked mountains and is the third largest ski resort in Colorado after Vail and Aspen. It has runs for everyone from the groomed green and blue runs to untouched knee-deep powder.

Chalet Bluebell owner/operators Helen Gienke and Rob Brown are delighted with the new snow: "Winter Park openend Nov 15, 2006 and the season was shaping up well, with about average snow. With this storm the conditions over Christmas and into January will be fantastic" says Helen, who runs the only independent catered ski chalet in Winter Park. "We’d love the Brits to experience this type of snow - it’s certainly good and soft to fall in!"

Chalet Bluebell is offering free lift passes  for skiers staying in January 2007.
