BRECKENRIDGE SKI RESORT OPENs NOV 8, 2008

It may only be November 8, but ski resorts in Colorado are already opening their doors for business and kicking off the 2008/9 US ski season with a bang.

Loveland and Arapahoe Basin have a ferocious fight every year to see who can be the first resort in the nation to get skiers and boarders on the slopes each Winter. This year it was a tie and both resorts opened at 8.30am on Wednesday October 15.

However the world class resorts are the ones that we really keep an eye on and they proved to be not far behind. Breckenridge, Copper Mountain and Keystone all opened today 8 November, a week earlier than normal with a mixture of real and manmade snow. Breckenridge has opened Springmeier and skiers can already make turns top to bottom.

Breckenridge also boasts a new base area at peak 7 a this year with new high-end lodging, new ski school, ticket sales & ski rentals, sit-down dining experience at Sevens & a new connection between the town & mountain with a first-class, innovative mass transit system via the BreckConnect gondola.

Another new development is the completion of brand new Eagle Lodge, a European style catered chalet, but with all the spacious and upscale amenities of American accommodation: open plan living / dining room with log features and stone fireplace, state of the art kitchen, media room with flat panel TV, DVD, sound system, fireplace, wet bar, heated boot driers in the “mud” room and an outdoor hot tub. Eagle Lodge is just a short walk from Peak 8 or there is a free shuttle bus, which stops steps away from the chalet.

International lift passes are available for those UK visitors staying at Eagle Lodge and passes include unlimited skiing at Breckenridge, Vail, Beaver Creek, Keystone and Arapahoe Basin.
